Daniel Ferg, AIA
Architect
Born in the Northeast and raised in Louisiana, Daniel has always been interested in the impact of the built environment on a community. Experiencing the ways in which New Orleans’ lively offerings create joy for the community has been an inspiration for him. Since joining TPA in 2014, Daniel has worked on a broad selection of projects including renovation and new construction for residential, hospitality, educational and mix-use buildings. His well-rounded knowledge of construction allows him to produce informative drawings resulting in the construct of the building as the design intended. For Daniel, there is magic in the process of architecture. To be able to transform a napkin sketch into a building for an owner to occupy as intended, is profound. Sarah Simonson, AIA

From an early age, Sarah has been surrounded by the artistic and cultural influences of the south. Growing up in the small college town of Oxford, Mississippi to two passionately creative parents, she was exposed to a large literary, artist, and cultural studies community that had a lasting impact on her life.
An avid champion of the American South, Sarah holds a degree in Southern Studies from the University of Mississippi. She carried this focus into her architectural thesis work for her Master of Architecture at Tulane University, investigating the influence of social culture on the built environment. Later, she led a year-long research project on the impact of post-Katrina demolition in New Orleans public housing. Sarah’s social focus gives her an affinity for institutional work.
Sarah finds fulfillment through mentoring young architects, further enriching the design community here in New Orleans. Architecture gives her the ability to work with a wide variety of people to find a common ground, designing towards a common goal that results in a more successful project. One that impacts the community, cultivated from the intersection of research and art.

A native New Orleanian, Peter Trapolin, FAIA is the founding principal of Trapolin-Peer Architects and has dedicated over four decades of professional experience to the city he calls home. An alumnus of De La Salle High School, he attended Tulane’s School of Architecture where he received the Moise Goldstein Award honoring his historic preservation work as well as the AIA Scholastic Award for Excellence in the study of architecture.
In 1981, he founded Peter M. Trapolin & Associates, which became Trapolin-Peer Architects in 2009, celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2021. His premiere renovation project at 600 Julia Street, one of the “Thirteen Sisters” of Julia Row designed by Alexander Thompson Wood in the 1830s, still stands as a downtown landmark. This project’s success, in conjunction with Peter’s various other projects in the area, triggered the revitalization of and renewed investment in the entire Central Business and Warehouse District neighborhoods.
While the firm has worked across the Gulf South, Peter’s dedication to historic preservation and detailing has saved many local historic buildings and helped repair the urban fabric in and around New Orleans’ historic districts. For him, scale and style are the most important elements of design. Decades later, Peter and the firm continue to be renowned both for innovative and contextual new buildings as well as environmentally sensitive renovations and restorations. Peter believes strongly in sharing of knowledge and mentoring future architects. He has served as a visiting critic, advisory board member and faculty member at Tulane University School of Architecture. He has also served as a guest lecturer on preservation at the University of New Orleans.
In 2017, Peter was recognized with AIA’s prestigious fellowship designation for his exceptional work and contributions to architecture and society as a whole. In his free time Mr. Trapolin is an enthusiastic boater and fisherman, navigating the Gulf from a piece of property in Mississippi that has been in his family for more than 75 years.

Architect
A Milwaukee native, Alan has always appreciated the generous public spaces and vast lakefront access in his hometown. Through the lens of a skateboarder, he observed these urban spaces in a unique way, studying the use of a particular space. An initial introduction to New Orleans during graduate school at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee piqued his interest in how physical spaces inform community. After many visits, he heeded the call of life below sea level in 2016. With experience in new construction, planning, and programming for educational, multi-family, and hospitality design, Alan believes in architecture’s power to be an equalizing force in society. And there is no greater reward than seeing how a community engages with and occupies the spaces in their own creative and unexpected ways.
Alan is invested in the livelihood of felines, diving into commissioned custom furniture pieces for cats. He is also involved in a community garden where he cultivates peppers and produces hot sauces that are sold locally along with other products from the garden.
