Opportunity

TPA, in collaboration with VMDO, embarked on a transformative project with Trinity Episcopal Church and School. Tasked with developing a 10+ year Master Plan for the campus nestled in the Garden District, the team faced the challenge of working within the constraints of interconnected historic buildings and a limited site for expansion.

In 2025, we actualized a key component of this plan: adapting a historic home into an administrative facility, with a modest expansion that places essential functions along a key campus artery.

Strategy

Guided by a commitment to preserving the campus's historical character while delivering modern learning environments, TPA + VMDO engaged closely with Trinity's leadership, faculty, staff, and students.

The resulting phased Master Plan serves as a dynamic roadmap, strategically identifying and implementing innovative and cost-efficient campus improvement projects over the next decade. The collaborative effort prioritized integrating spaces across campus, without disrupting the ongoing operations of the school and church.

In 2024, TPA delivered Jack's House, a holistic administration center first identified in the 2019 Master Plan.

Outcome

The Master Plan brings lasting value by preserving the historical character of Trinity's campus while equipping it to meet modern educational needs. This design thoughtfully addresses both the school and church’s priorities for growth within a restricted space, fostering a cohesive campus environment that will serve the community for generations. By enhancing connectivity, security, and functionality, the plan strengthens the relationship between the church, the school, and the surrounding Garden District. This approach not only respects the site's heritage but also provides adaptable spaces that support Trinity’s mission and enrich the neighborhood as a vibrant community anchor.
