Spanning a 4.5 acre city block in heart of downtown Pensacola, the development of The Brent Lofts at One Palafox Place called for a master planning process that considered both programmatic use and leasable space planning. With the guidance of the design team, these efforts resulted in the rehabilitation and restoration of three historic buildings into a mixed-use development with 200,000 SF of commercial space, and 30 contemporary, luxury units.

The former office spaces of the Brent Building have been converted into apartments with modern amenities and architectural design work that further highlight historic components. Original corridors have been maintained, existing ceiling and masonry walls exposed and the buildings hardwood floors refurnished. Additionally, light wells were repurposed to provide private outdoor living space to many of the interior apartments.


An outdoor breezeway lined with retail spaces was incorporated into the ground floor and connect the block to the east side of Palafox Street. This enhances the urban experience by providing shelter from the elements, access to parking, and shopping along the way.
