Following devastation from Hurricane Katrina, the original family home situated on this double lot in Old Metairie was cleared and made ready for a fresh start. The owners sought a balance of traditional French architecture and classic, simple design with key lines of sight. In collaboration with the owners, Trapolin-Peer designed a new 10,800 SF two-story home that recreated key vistas, maintained existing oak trees and encouraged flow for entertaining.

Beginning with an axial approach, the design team ensured there was focal point at the end of each view. As you enter through the front door, you see through the home into the backyard. You experience that view as you transition from the entrance vestibule, stair hall, family room, and rear terrace before entering the yard. This home was designed for entertaining, therefore encouraging flow is essential. Here, you’ll find yourself seamlessly moving from one room to another and then to an exterior terrace.  The exterior includes a cabana and in-ground pool, and multiple areas to enjoy the visiting wildlife from the neighboring golf course.
