“"People will look at it and say, ‘Is that you playing? Is it Miles Davis? It’s nobody. I was just trying to capture the feeling of playing.””

Herb Alpert, creator and innovator, musician and producer, artist, and philanthropist

Alpert, in addition to his celebrated music career, has pursued a second passion as a sculptor. Recently, he completed a 14-foot-tall sculpture for the New Orleans Jazz Museum. The piece depicts a man playing the trumpet, Alpert's own instrument, but it's not intended to represent a specific individual. Instead, the sculpture captures the essence and emotion of playing music.  That evocation of feeling has been a constant narrative through his music as well. Alpert just released his 50th album, titled "50."
